Late one night, two people sat next to each other and talked about what they loved about improv comedy. Another night, they talked about their favorite comedy films. They kept on talking – night after night, day after day – about who in their lives made them laugh the most, shows they would produce, songs that inspired them, and movies they would write. They often talked about how the world is hard and humor helps them get through it. 

And, then, one night, they talked about opening a space in which people could imagine, perform, and inspire. They sat all night on a big couch and dreamed of what the place would mean to them and to the performers and creatives of New Orleans. So, they drew up a blueprint which you are witnessing now.

That’s the story of Big Couch – two people coming together to build something for everyone. We believe in listening, accepting, discovering, creating, and – most of all – playing. The Big Couch is for collaboration, possibilities, and failure. As Tina Fey says, “there are no mistakes, only opportunities.”
