We love supporting organizations and groups of all sizes looking to create stronger connections through improv.
All activities are done with positivity and respect and without judgment. Big Couch endeavors to create a welcoming, inclusive environment that feels receptive to taking risks. We understand some folks may not be amenable to “putting themselves out there” especially in front of their co-workers or don’t think they are “quick” or “funny” enough. But, our corporate improv workshops aren’t about being funny or risque. They are about being present, connecting ideas, supporting each other, and surprising ourselves. Participants may not be prepared to crush a Saturday Night Live audition, but they will definitely be open and energized to be productive in a Tuesday Afternoon Brainstorming session.

We wholeheartedly believe in the power of improv for collaboration, as it supports listening, creativity, and a growth mindset. And, we get professional environments. Sometimes it can be awkward to bring a sense of play and camaraderie to the workplace. But, we do it every day. Big Couch’s co-founders come to improv with corporate, nonprofit, and higher education backgrounds. We are a software engineer with an MBA and communications manager with an MSW that bring the “yes, and” foundation into our teams and projects on a daily basis.
Team-building and corporate improv workshops exercises focus on listening, accepting and adding information, becoming comfortable with uncertainty, supporting one another, and developing confidence and creativity. To prepare for being in scenes, we break down the basics of how to start and build a premise and play through that. We ask participants to keep their content “work appropriate” and remind them that while they are having fun, they are still in a professional setting. In addition to laughing and enjoying each other’s company, we ask participants to reflect on how the activities relate to their work and team. We also offer a post-workshop evaluation which we can share with organizers to understand the benefit of this session.
Our base rate for a 2-hour corporate improv workshop in the New Orleans area for 20 people is $800. This includes a 30 minute consultation and customized curriculum with a variety of group exercises and the opportunity for scene work based upon your specific needs. Above that would be an additional $200 per 20 people and additional $100 per hour. If the event is over 50 miles away from New Orleans, travel expenses would be added at cost. If this doesn’t work with your budget, we’re happy to chat about our rates and offer discounts for non-profit organizations and schools.
