Youth Art Exhibit Gallery Opening presented by the Center for Youth Equity

With artwork from over 20 New Orleans area artists ages 11 to 21, the Youth Art Exhibition envisions a future free from violence and provides insight into what young people need to thrive today and into adulthood.

This year’s theme is “Culture,” and artists provided works that contemplate the aspects that combine to define who they are and who they will become. To them, culture might be the arts (drawing, playing music, or other expression) or customs (traditions, food, and language of your ethnicity and community). It makes us all feel we belong, inspires us, and supports us, especially when we need it most. Artists works answer these questions “What does culture mean to you, how do you identify with your culture, and how does your culture support you?”

Presented by the Center for Youth Equity, the exhibit’s opening will be Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Big Couch, 1045 Desire Street. Light refreshments will be served throughout the opening, and a brief award presentation will occur at 6:15 pm.
