Every Saturday night at Big Couch, The Big Big Show brings together real stories and top-tier improv comedy. Each show incorporates with a true tales from a local guests — an artist, bartender, musician, teacher, business owner, your eccentric neighbor. Inspired by that story's heart, humor, and chaos, our cast of fearlessly funny improvisers turns truth into hilarity, crafting scenes that are unpredictable and unforgettable. Spicy Bits: Hot Improv + Hot Sauce
Improv comedy is difficult enough. Why would anyone make it more challenging? Because watching comedians trying to perform while eating progressively spicier hot sauce is HELL-arious. Created and produced by Ellery Abel, Spicy Bits is a unique hour-long comedy show featuring improvisers performing short-form games and eating food covered in hot sauce. As the show goes on, the games get harder, and the sauces get hotter. Imagine “Who’s Line Is it Anyway?” meets “Hot Ones.”
Cards of Destiny
We've gathered up some incredibly talented improvisers to test their abilities by chance, and you get to decide the Ultimate Joker! Regular playing cards become comedy challenges, and improvisers draw their task at random to discover their daring destiny. Whatever the card says they do, they have to do! And, the audience chooses who continues on to the next round based upon their performance. It's surprising, suspenseful, and totally unscripted!
Showcase: Long-form Improv
All of our improv courses culminate in a showcase performance that shows off newly acquired skills of class participants. Every month, we have at least one (and sometimes more!) showcase that shares the creativity and collaboration of newly trained and long-time improvisers. Come see them invent characters and worlds in the moment for a performance never seen before and never to be seen again.
Discourse: A Live Comedy Debate
See a live comedy debate like no other! Contestants tackle quirky questions with wit and charm, vying to become the Emperor of Debate. Are we okay? Does a straw have one hole or two? Santa, cool or chill? Are you asking the important questions like these? Then Discourse is your jam. Welcome to Discourse: the live comedy debate where wit is the weapon and laughter is the prize. Our participants learn about their topics as they hit the stage and rely on wit, charm, and sheer nerve to win over the judges and the audience. The winner of our foursome will challenge the standing Emperor of Debate for their laurels.
Match Game
Classic TV meets improv chaos with wild panelists and un-blanking-believable fun! Don't miss the Big Couch version of Match Game! Inspired by the classic TV show, this improv comedy twist brings you outrageous "celebrity" panelists, fill-in-the-blank questions, and plenty of unscripted chaos. Audience members compete to see how many answers they can match with our panel—while our improvisers crank up the fun with wholly original characters and quick banter. It's unscripted, unruly, and un-blanking-believable!
